About Charlie Walk:
Charlie Walk follows the music first. It's a personal protocol that the Republic Records Executive Vice President has subscribed to since his childhood growing up in the suburbs of Boston, MA. At seven-years-old, he'd spend hours in his room listening to a vintage AM transistor radio tuned to the city's famed WRKO 680 AM. It was during that time he became fascinated with pop music.
Walk previously enjoyed a legendary 15-year stint at Columbia. From getting behind Mariah Carey's debut single "Vision of Love" to working on the rebirth of Aerosmith with "I Don't Want to Miss A Thing" on the Armageddon soundtrack, fueling the meteoric rise of The Fugees, and ushering Will Smith into the forefront of pop radio from rap, he forged ahead with a combination of prescient wisdom, sharp business acumen, and a willingness to take risks. He personally pushed for John Mayer to release "Daughters" as a single, and the song went on to win the 2005 Grammy Award for "Song of the Year" and "Best Male Pop Vocal Performance". During the acceptance speech, Mayer personally thanked Walk.
Other artists he directly worked with included Beyoncé, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Destiny's Child, John Legend, Lauryn Hill, Maxwell, and Wyclef Jean. Eventually he was named head of the Columbia Records promotion division as Executive Vice President, Creative Marketing and Promotion.
In 2013, Walk returned to the business he started in when Republic Records sought him out as Executive Vice President. As soon as he joined the team, he proved integral to identifying a smash for Ariana Grande in the form of "The Way" featuring Mac Miller from her #1 Billboard Top 200 debut, Yours Truly. He remained crucial to the campaign for Lorde's Pure Heroine, envisioning and enacting forward-thinking marketing initiatives to turn her into a Grammy Award-winning platinum sensation. Meanwhile, he shepherded a groundbreaking joint venture with fashion mogul John Varvatos—John Varvatos Records.
Walk is currently working with a number of today's top artists including The Weeknd, Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, and Shawn Mendes.
