Michael Emmerman is a Managing Director and a Senior Money Manager at the investment management firm of Neuberger Berman Investment Advisors, LLC, where he has been for 50 years of his almost 60 years in the investment community. Mike is also an advisor to public safety, law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
Mr. Emmerman is the Director of the Special Operations Support Group, a not-for-profit organization that provides research and technical advice to law enforcement and public safety agencies. He is a Board Certified Forensic Examiner and a Diplomat and Fellow of the American College of Forensic Examiners. He holds the position of Volunteer Intelligence Analyst with the U.S. Department of Justice. He also serves as the Emergency Management Regional Program Lead - Liaison to Government for the American Red Cross. Mike is an Honorary Deputy Chief of both the NYPD and FDNY.
Mike works closely with federal, state and municipal law enforcement agencies throughout the U.S. Because of his extensive financial experience, he has been called upon to assist in case work involving international money laundering perpetrated by organized crime, drug traffickers and terrorists. He also trains federal agents tasked with financial investigations. This work, combined with his five decades of day-to-day work in international finance, has provided him with a unique view of the geopolitical issues we face today. His briefing, titled "Changing the World Map", which reviews this unique perspective in detail, has been presented across the U.S. and internationally.
In his role as a disaster response specialist, he has served at many disaster scenes including the TWA Flight 800 recovery operation and at the World Trade Center on 9/11, where he was trapped by debris. Mike is the recipient of the 2009 Clara Barton Award which is the highest recognition a volunteer can receive for service to the American Red Cross.
