Handsigned by Carlos, the Santana Student Edition PRS is a must have for any collector. The piece features artwork specifically designed by and for Carlos while making his Africa Speaks album. Plus, there was a very limited print run of these guitars.
The PRS SE 245 solidbody electric guitar is a fantastic example of a vintage-flavored 6-string that boasts the best of modern construction and quality. The guitar’s mahogany body and neck deliver a focused tone that is never too wooly or sharp. Your fretting hand will feel right at home on the wide-fat neck profile that brings to mind some of the most legendary ’50s single-cutaway electrics in history. And with its 24.5-inch scale length, the SE 245’s action stays slinky under your fingers. Bird inlays and the PRS SE signature logo design come standard.
Santana emerged at the Woodstock festival followed by their first Top 10 hit, “Evil Ways,” that stayed on Billboard’s album chart for two years. More than forty years and almost as many albums later, Santana has sold more than 100 million records and reached more than 100 million fans at concerts worldwide. Santana has won 10 Grammy Awards, including a record-tying nine for a single project, 1999’s Supernatural (including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for "Smooth"). In 1998, the group was ushered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, whose website notes, “Guitarist Carlos Santana is one of rock’s true virtuosos and guiding lights.”
For more than four decades, Carlos has been the visionary force behind artistry that transcends musical genres and generational, cultural and geographical boundaries. Among many other honors, Carlos Santana received Billboard Latin Music Awards Lifetime Achievement honor, Billboard’s Century Award and Kennedy Center Honors. Rolling Stone has also named him #15 on the magazine’s list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time”. And, with the 2014 release of Corazon, Santana surpassed the Rolling Stones and is one of only two music acts in Billboard history to score at least one Top Ten album for six consecutive decades from the 1960s on. More recently the release of Blessings and Miracles was heralded as one of American Songwriter’s Best Albums of the Year.
