Would you like to have lunch with legendary British guitarist, singer, manager and record producer, Peter Asher? Here is your opportunity to dine with Peter at the coveted Little Beach House Malibu (aka The Soho House) and talk with the very man that signed and developed James Taylor.
Peter Asher came to fame as one-half of the singing duo Peter & Gordon, who amassed nine Top 20 records during their career. Their first hit “A World without Love”- a song given to them by Paul McCartney – went to number one in over 30 countries. In 1968, Mr. Asher became head of A&R for The Beatles newly formed record company, Apple Records, where he found, signed and produced James Taylor and worked closely with The Beatles on their individual projects. During this period he became a key figure in the “revolution” of The Sixties, founding the book shop and art gallery “Indica” (where John and Yoko met and where Allen Ginsberg and William Boroughs visited) and found himself at the center of an era of profound social and artistic change.
After Peter & Gordon separated in 1968, Peter moved to the U.S. and founded Peter Asher Management, representing James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt. Peter Asher Management became one of the most successful artist management companies handling artists such as Joni Mitchell, Randy Newman, and Carole. Peter went on to become Senior Vice President of Sony Music, a post he held for eight years. In 1973, Asher as co-owner helped Elmer Valentine and Lou Adler open up the legendary Roxy Theater in Hollywood, CA. As a producer, Mr. Asher has worked with diverse artists as Eddie Brickell, Cher, Neil Diamond, The Dixie Chicks, Fallout Boy, Billy Joel, Kenny Loggins, Steve Martin, Jane Monheit, Morrissey, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Linda Ronstadt, Diana Ross, Ed Sheeran, Ringo Starr, James Taylor, Robin Williams, Hans Zimmer and 10,000 Maniacs.
He has been awarded 37 RIAA-certified gold albums and 22 platinum albums. Mr. Asher has produced 14 GRAMMY® Award-winning recordings, and in 1977 and 1989 was honored individually with the GRAMMY Award for Producer of the Year. In the New Year’s Honours list for 2015, Peter Asher was awarded a CBE (“Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire”) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.
Today, Peter has continued to be in high demand as a record producer, consultant, lecturer, and as a performer again in his successful one-man show, “A Musical Memoir of the 60s and Beyond.” He recently produced Steve Martin and the Canyon Rangers’ The Long Awaited Album and worked with Elton John on an all-star covers album. His newest adventure is hosting a highly-successful and much praised weekly radio show, From Me to You, on the new Beatles channel on SiriusXM radio. He has also received various international awards, is a member of Mensa and SAG-AFTRA and is currently President of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Recording Academy®. If you’ve ever wanted to sit down one-on-one with a legend in the industry, this is your chance.
You will get to dine at the private, members-only Little Beach House Malibu, founded in London in 1995 as a home from home for people working in a creative field. This is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so bid today!
