Naketha Mattocks, is the Vice President, Original Movies Disney Channels Worldwide and responsible for supervising the creative development and production for the hugely successful Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) franchise. In 2015, DESCENDANTS was the #1 cable TV film in total viewers, ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING, the 100th DCOM, was the #1 cable TV film of 2016 in total viewers, and the recently aired DESCENDANTS 2 is the #1 cable TV film and cable telecast since the original DESCENDANTS. Upcoming films include ZOMBIES and a musical spin on FREAKY FRIDAY, based on the touring show.
Prior to Disney Channel, Mattocks was an independent film and television producer, and sold projects to numerous entities, including ABC Family (now Freeform), CBS Films, BET and Lifetime. She’s the executive producer of the multi-cam sitcom A BELLE IN BROOKLYN, based on blogger Demetria Lucas’ best-selling book, currently in development at MTV. She was the co-executive producer of AWAY AND BACK, starring Jason Lee and Minka Kelly, which aired in 2015 under the prestigious Hallmark Hall of Fame banner.
In 2012, Mattocks was a consultant for Lifetime Television where she served as an executive on projects that included BETTY AND CORETTA, HOUSE OF VERSACE, RESTLESS VIRGINS and WHITNEY. From 2006-2011, Mattocks was Head of Development for Oscar-nominated writer/director Gary Ross’ Larger Than Life, where she oversaw projects with creative talent that included Terence Winter, Dean DeBlois and Joby Harold.
Prior to that, Mattocks was an executive at Paramount Pictures supervising development and production of films that included ALFIE, CHARLOTTE'S WEB, COACH CARTER, GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN’, ELIZABETHTOWN and WITHOUT A PADDLE. She also served as Vice President of Development for Oscar-winning writer/director Barry Levinson and Emmy-winning producer Paula Weinstein’s Baltimore / Spring Creek Pictures, where she brought in projects like ENVY, which starred Ben Stiller and Jack Black, and collaborated with creative talent that included Jamie Vanderbilt and Gina Wendkos.
In 2016, Mattocks was honored as one of Variety’s Women of Impact, given the inaugural Girl’s Choice Award by A Place Called Home and received a Distinguished Alumni Award from Emerson College.
She began her career as a reader for the Sundance Screenwriters Lab and is a graduate of Emerson College.
