Journeys for Giants would be delighted to assist you as the winner of this prize in organising a wider safari incorporating your stay at Ol Jogi. Space for Giants aims to secure Africa’s remaining elephant populations and the landscapes they depend on, forever.
You and your guests will enjoy a 2-night stay at Ol Jogi, one of the most remarkable private conservancies in Africa!
Included in your stay:
Located on the Laikipia plateau 45 minutes by private charter north of Nairobi, Ol Jogi is a wildlife sanctuary of 58,000 acres. Ol Jogi hosts large herds of elephants, antelopes, reticulated giraffe, zebra, leopard, lion, cheetah, small cats, three species of primates and a stunningly diverse array of birds. This game-rich conservancy, however, has as its primary mission the protection of endangered species, and thus it provides sanctuary to a large population of black rhinos, over 15% of the world’s Grevy’s zebra and wild dogs. The landscape startles, and is unique within Kenya. Rich iron ore deposits have turned large swaths of the earth a deep orange. Kopjes, rocky outcrops that rise precipitously in startling shapes from the plains, harbor endemic species of animals and plants and provide constant scenic delight and wonderful hiking opportunities.
Nestled in one of the most extensive of these outcrops is your home on Ol Jogi, a series of luxurious, themed cottages surrounded by tropical gardens, streams and lakes, superb sports facilities, swimming pool and sumptuous spa, a hidden blind, underground wine cellar and an organic garden. The decoration in the house is unique containing fine sculptures and paintings, and beautifully crafted furnishings.
On this private piece of Africa, your adventures are only limited by your imagination. Have an early morning game drive or birding walk with one of the ranch’s long time guides. If you are interested in a more strenuous start to your day, hike to the top of a kopje while your companions investigate the medicinal properties of the region’s botany. Have the opportunity to get unusually close to our wildlife in a number of different ways, including a visit to our Wildlife Rescue Centre where orphaned and wounded animals come to recuperate before being reintroduced in to the wild. You will have bush lunches and magical candlelit dinners, preceded by a late afternoon massage or Moroccan steam room. The staff are superbly well trained, will ensure your comfort and the chef, sourcing much of his produce from Ol Jogi’s organic gardens; will surprise you with delicious food. Ol Jogi’s secret lies in its ability to blend luxury with an authentic and relaxed African bush experience.
Ol Jogi becomes your exclusive home, and the possibilities of things to do are endless. As magnificent and comfortable as is Ol Jogi’s home, the real treasure is the untouched nature and wildlife that unfolds before you and the freedom to do anything you wish within this magical setting.
