Artist bio:
Helmut Newton was a fashion photographer that is widely recognized as one of the most collectable and prominent photographers ever to hold a camera. Newton’s style developed a very distinct taste for the erotic, long legs, and couture photography pushing the envelope of boldness for the time. His technical ability and sense of style gained him work as a fashion photographer for Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Playboy, and numerous other iconic publications. This collection constitutes an anthology of images that Newton considered his most important work from 1974-1984 and which was to form the foundation for the famed "Private Property" series of exhibitions in 1984 and 1985. Over the years, the Private Property portfolio has achieved legendary status, and these images represent an extraordinary photographer at the height of his creativity. The “Private Property” collection was produced by International Images partner Norman Solomon. The collection was gifted to him by Newton in 1986 and further supported by a settlement with the Newton Estate in 2012. Upon passing Newton left all of his images to the Helmut Newton Foundation and the Berlin Museum of Art. As a result, our collection of “Private Property” images is the only known collection available for purchase by fans and collectors worldwide.
