Collect this celebratory 1986 photograph, triple-signed by Mike Tyson, Darryl Strawberry and Doc Gooden— plus, a Mike Tyson hand-signed Everlast boxing glove!
In 1986 Mike Tyson, boxing’s new superstar, was invited to meet the New York Mets at Shea Stadium. Dwight “Doc” Gooden and Darryl Strawberry were his greeters.
This great image captures the historic meeting, as a smiling Tyson pretends to throw a punch at a smiling Doc Gooden, and Darryl Strawberry joins. The Shea Stadium meeting took place on September 10, 1986— scarcely more than a month before the Mets won the 1986 World Series, and just about 2 months before Mike Tyson captured the title of world heavyweight champion.
This large-format photograph has been personally hand-signed by Doc Gooden, Darryl Strawberry and Mike Tyson. Each has signed in silver paint-pen, and each signature is large, clear, and prominently placed within the image area.
The triple-signed photograph comes freshly framed in a dramatic frame of lustrous dark wood, crisp white matting, completed by a dark fillet. Framed size measures 24-3/4" in height x 28-3/4" width.
The signatures of Doc Gooden, Darryl Strawberry and Mike Tyson have been examined and authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA), and the piece bears a unique alphanumeric authentication label from JSA, which corresponds to the item in JSA’s online Authentication Database. The photograph also bears an authenticating holographic label from Fiterman Sports, exclusive signing agent for Tyson.
Accompanying the photograph is a second item: a red Everlast boxing glove which has been hand-signed by Mike Tyson.
The glove is new, with its original Everlast tags, and Tyson has signed the glove in bold black marker.
Tyson’s signature on the glove has been authenticated by JSA, and, like the triple-signed photograph, the glove bears authenticating labels from JSA and Fiterman Sports; it comes with a JSA Certificate of Authenticity.
