The photograph documents The Police at the A&M Records offices, celebrating the landmark success of Synchronicity, the 1983 album that cemented the band's place in rock royalty. Released in June of that year, Synchronicity shot to No. 1 in both the UK and the U.S. and was certified Gold and Platinum by the RIAA on August 30, 1983. The album produced some of the era's most enduring tracks, including "Every Breath You Take" (#1 U.S.), "King of Pain" (#3 U.S.), "Wrapped Around Your Finger" (#8 U.S.), and "Synchronicity II" (#16 U.S.).
