The Explorers Club is an international multidisciplinary professional society with the goal of promoting scientific exploration and field study. The Club was founded in New York City in 1904 and has served as a meeting point for explorers and scientists worldwide. Notable honorary members have included Theodore Roosevelt, John Glenn, Jim Fowler, Walter Cronkite, Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh, Sir Edmund Hillary, Buzz Aldrin and Albert I Prince of Monaco.

Ted Janulis, former Explorers Club President, has served in various executive positions, including CEO, at financial institutions involved in Capital Markets, Banking and Asset Management over a 35+ year business career. He recently joined the Board of Directors of Dr. Sylvia Earle's Mission Blue, a global coalition to inspire awareness and support for a worldwide network of marine protected areas. He has also served on numerous for-profit and not-for-profit Boards including Gannett Co Inc., Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance (ORRAA), One Ocean Foundation and Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment Board of Directors.
The oceans have been one of Ted's passions since he was young, including a life-changing year when he worked with scientists, explorers and filmmakers as the 1981 Rolex Scholar of the Our World Underwater Scholarship Society.
