As a teen Cheryl volunteered for Teen Line herself, then later as Clinical Supervisor, Program Director, and now COO of this dedicated, inspiring organization making a difference. This one hour meeting can occur virtually, or in-person in Los Angeles, following Covid protocols.
For more than 40 years, Teen Line has provided a safe, anonymous space for youth to talk about their problems. Teen Line is located in Los Angeles, CA, but its reach is international. They support teens from across the globe, who contact us for personal teen-to-teen support from someone their age who truly gets it. Cheryl Karp Eskin is the Chief Operating Officer of Teen Line, a teen to teen hotline where teenagers can talk to a trained teen listener about any problem, no matter how big or small. She is also the co-chair of the Los Angeles Suicide Prevention Network. Cheryl started her mental health career at the age of 14 as a Teen Line listener. She has been licensed as a marriage and family therapist since 2002. She has worked with adolescents in a variety of settings, including nonpublic school, private practice, and community mental health. Cheryl is passionate about decreasing the stigma around mental health and depression, and educating parents how to best help their teens. Cheryl partnered in developing an Iphone app Teen Talk-Helping Teens to address a need for added support for teens who are struggling. Cheryl regularly speaks with parents and educators on improving communication with their teens as well as mental health warning signs. Cheryl Karp Eskin received her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology at Northwestern University, and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego. Cheryl is a parent to a teen and pre-teen.
