You and your guest will live the ultimate Alaskan experience for three nights with Alaska: The Last Frontier stars Atz & Bonnie Kilcher. This historic land is not only the setting of the famed Discovery Channel series, but is also where Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Jewel grew up!
Your experience will begin with a two night stay at Atz and Bonnie’s Adventure Cabin, a historic homestead cabin built in the 1940s, which boasts a modern yet rustic cook-house with full amenities. You will also enjoy a picnic by the pond with the moose! This authentic Alaskan bed and breakfast is just four miles from Homer, Alaska.
For the final night of your stay, you will travel by ATV and spend one night in an Alaskan wilderness log cabin built in the 1960s. Enjoy an intimate wilderness campfire concert in the beautiful Fox River Valley, a place where Atz has retreated throughout his entire life for inspiration and healing. Atz will even prepare a home-cooked meal for you. This is the “real” Alaska very few people have the opportunity to experience! This is also the location where Jewel rode her horse as a teenager and the property that Atz is building into a veteran’s retreat.
During your stay, you will enjoy:
For eleven seasons, the Kilcher Homestead has embedded itself into American zeitgeist as the quintessential heroic story of life in the Alaskan wilderness, living off the land’s resources and surviving Alaska's uncontrollable elements on Discovery Channel’s world renowned series Alaska: The Last Frontier. The Kilcher family spends the short summer and fall gardening, hunting and fishing for food, gathering supplies from the land and preparing their animals for the winter.
Atz Kilcher was raised on the homestead in Homer, Alaska after his father and mother, Yule and Ruth, emigrated from Switzerland in the late 1930’s. The many skills learned and required on a homestead, as well as living a self-sufficient lifestyle, have helped shape Atz’s character. As an adult, Atz worked as a rancher, horse trainer and carpenter. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and his Master’s in Social Work in order to work with troubled teens and in marriage and family therapy. He served in the army in the late 1960’s and spent one year in Vietnam. Dealing with his own PTSD from a dysfunctional family and the trauma experienced in Vietnam, Atz developed great empathy for all veterans and anyone dealing with trauma. Atz is an accomplished singer, song-writer, musician, story-teller and proud father. He is most widely known as the patriarch of Discovery Channel’s Emmy-short-listed program Alaska: The Last Frontier.
