Jean Reno is one of the most well-known French actors working today. Reno began his career on the Parisian stage, acting in multiple theatrical productions in the 1970s. In 1981, Reno met director Luc Besson, who became pivotal to his future film career, casting him in his first leading roles. In 1987, Reno was cast alongside Jean-Marc Barr and Rosanna Arquette in Besson’s hit, The Big Blue. The part provided Reno with his first César nomination (the French equivalent of the Oscars). Reno was introduced to American audiences with his memorable roles in two other Besson-directed films, La Femme Nikita (1989) and León, or The Professional (1994). Leon provided Reno with a second César nomination. The film also became an American cult classic and made him an international star. Reno has also appeared in such international hits as French Kiss (1995), Godzilla (1998), Hotel Rwanda (2004), The Pink Panther (2006), The Da Vinci Code (2006), and The Chef (2012), amongst others. In the past few years, he has acted in multiple television series, including Call My Agent (2020), Netflix’s Who Killed Sara? (2021), and Amazon’s A Private Affair (2022).
Marc Levy is the most-read French author alive today, having sold more than 52 million books around the world. He has written more than 22 novels that have been translated into more than 49 languages. All of them have hit best-sellers lists. Recently, Marc became Ambassador for the French Red Cross. Marc Levy was born in France. When he turned eighteen, he joined the Red Cross, where he spent the next six years. In 1983, he co-founded a computer graphics company based in France and the United States. Six years later, he co-founded an interior design and planning company with two friends; the company soon became one of the leading architecture firms in France. His first novel, If Only It Were True, written when he was 37, was adapted into the movie Just Like Heaven, produced by Steven Spielberg and starring Reese Witherspoon and Marc Ruffalo. A prolific writer, Marc has also written short stories, and song lyrics for various artists, including the late French superstar Johnny Hallyday, and has recently released his first graphic novel. Marc feels himself a New Yorker after 12 years in the city. New York’s diverse population and landscape have been the setting of many of his novels and a source of inspiration for many of his works.
