Joe DiMaggio and Derek Jeter, two of the New York Yankees’ — and baseball’s — greatest players of all time, joined forces to create this amazing co-signed Limited Edition ball. DiMaggio has signed on the ball’s sweet spot, which also bears the edition number “11/56”. Jeter has signed on the ball’s North panel.
DiMaggio played his entire 13-year career in Major League Baseball for the New York Yankees. “Joltin’ Joe” is best known for setting the all-time record for the longest hitting streak in baseball (56 games from May 15–July 16, 1941), a record which still stands today.
Thus, this dynamic duo of signatures was collected for a meaningfully numbered edition of only 56 balls. This co-signed Rawlings Official Gene A. Budig American League baseball, from the 1994-99 era, bears an official Joe DiMaggio Yankee Clipper Enterprises authenticating sticker, along with a holographic All American Collectibles label. Additionally, the ball with both signatures was examined and authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA), and the ball comes accompanied by a full photographic Letter of Authenticity from JSA.
In addition to Joe DiMaggio’s famed 56-game hitting streak, DiMaggio was a three-time American League (AL) Most Valuable Player Award winner, and an All-Star in each of his 13 seasons. During his tenure with the Yankees, the club won ten American League pennants and nine World Series championships. His nine career World Series rings are second only to fellow Yankee Yogi Berra, who won ten. At the time of his retirement after the 1951 season, he ranked fifth in career home runs (361) and sixth in career slugging percentage (.579). He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1955 and was voted the sport's greatest living player in a poll taken during baseball's centennial year of 1969.
Co-signer Derek Jeter is five-time World Series Champion and all-time career leader for the New York Yankees, with 20 seasons in Major League Baseball. 14-time All-Star and first-ballot Hall of Famer, Jeter earned five Gold Glove Awards, five Silver Slugger Awards, two Hank Aaron Awards, and a Roberto Clemente Award. Jeter also earned American League Rookie of the Year honors, and took home the 2000 World Series MVP. His 3,465 career hits rank sixth all-time. Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility, he received possible 396 of 397 votes, the second-highest percentage in MLB history.
