The winning bidder's group of four will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have dinner with the manager of the New York Yankees, Aaron Boone in New York City!
Aaron Boone, born on March 9, 1973, is an American baseball manager and former infielder, currently managing the New York Yankees in Major League Baseball (MLB). Boone had a 13-year playing career from 1997 to 2009, during which he played for teams like the Cincinnati Reds, New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, Florida Marlins, Washington Nationals, and Houston Astros. He's most famous for his dramatic walk-off home run in Game 7 of the 2003 American League Championship Series (ALCS) that sent the Yankees to the World Series and prolonged the "Curse of the Bambino" against the Boston Red Sox.
Before his managerial career, Boone worked as a baseball analyst for ESPN from 2010 to 2017. He joined the Yankees as their manager in 2018, leading the team to two 100-win seasons and playoff appearances in each of his first five years. Boone became the first manager in MLB history to achieve 100 or more wins in each of his first two seasons. However, his tenure has also seen challenges, including streaky performances by the team and playoff disappointments, with multiple early exits.
Boone was born into a baseball family—his father, Bob Boone, was an MLB catcher and manager, and his brother, Bret Boone, was a four-time Gold Glove winner and All-Star. Aaron Boone is also the grandson of Ray Boone, a former major leaguer, and a descendant of the American pioneer Daniel Boone.
Despite his baseball pedigree, Boone has faced personal health challenges. In 2009, he underwent open-heart surgery to replace a bicuspid aortic valve, a condition he had known about since childhood. In 2021, Boone had surgery to implant a pacemaker but returned to managing the Yankees just two weeks later, expressing that he felt "awesome" after the procedure.
Boone's personal life includes his marriage to Laura Cover, a former Playboy Playmate, with whom he has four children—two biological and two adopted. The family moved from Scottsdale, Arizona, to Greenwich, Connecticut, when Boone became the Yankees' manager. Known for his fiery temperament on the field, Boone has a high ejection rate, placing him among the top managers in MLB history for being ejected from games.
Under Boone's leadership, the Yankees have seen both success and struggles, including being eliminated from playoff contention in 2023 for the first time during his tenure. Despite these challenges, Boone remains a key figure in one of baseball's most storied franchises.
