Bob's Burgers is an American animated sitcom created by Loren Bouchard for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The show follows the Belcher family—Bob, Linda, and their children Tina, Gene, and Louise—as they run a small burger restaurant in the fictional coastal town of Seymour’s Bay, New Jersey. Their everyday challenges, quirky personalities, and offbeat adventures form the heart of the series.
The show premiered on January 9, 2011, following Bouchard’s work on Home Movies. It is produced by Wilo Productions and Buck & Millie Productions in association with 20th Television Animation, and animated by Bento Box Entertainment.
Though initial reviews were mixed, the series quickly found success. Its premiere episode, “Human Flesh,” drew 9.39 million viewers—the highest-rated debut of the season. Over time, Bob’s Burgers has become a critical and cultural favorite, known for its humor, heartfelt family moments, and frequent musical numbers.
The show has earned numerous accolades, including eleven consecutive Emmy nominations for Outstanding Animated Program (2012–2022), winning in 2014 and 2017. In 2013, TV Guide ranked it among the 60 Greatest TV Cartoons of All Time. Reruns began airing on Adult Swim in 2013 and in syndication in 2015.
Bob’s Burgers has expanded into other media, including a comic book series launched in 2014, two soundtrack albums, and The Bob’s Burgers Movie, released on May 27, 2022. On April 2, 2025, Disney announced a four-season renewal deal extending the show through 2029.
The Belcher family’s world includes loyal customers like Mort and Teddy, rival restaurateur Jimmy Pesto, and a cast of colorful townspeople. The children attend Wagstaff School and each bring a distinct personality—Tina, awkward and boy-crazy; Gene, musically inclined and goofy; and Louise, clever and mischievous.
With its unique mix of character-driven comedy, community-centered storytelling, and musical flair, Bob’s Burgers remains one of the most beloved animated series on television.
