About Blanton's:
In the winter of 1881, Albert Bacon Blanton was born into one of the first families of bourbon history. At the age of sixteen, he started work in the Distillery as an office boy and fast became a leading pioneer in the development of bourbon.
From the time he was made company president in 1921 until his retirement in 1952, his Distillery expanded from 44 to 144 buildings to become the largest Distillery of its day. During that period Colonel Blanton created his very special and limited supply of bourbon — his private reserve — handpicked and stored in what now is known as the famous Warehouse H.
Although Colonel Blanton died in the spring of 1959, his legacy lives.
About Blanton’s Takara Red Edition:
Made exclusively for the Japanese market, this premium expression is similar to the Original Single Barrel Bourbon, with one key difference: it’s aged for an additional 2 years.
The Takara Red Edition undergoes an 8-year minimum aged barrel selection process (as opposed to the standard 6), which produces a more complex, robust, and refined tasting experience. Created for exceptional smoothness and a clean finish, this bourbon is made with a sour mash of corn, rye, and malted barley before maturing in American White Oak casks.
The nose is powerful and dry with honey, rye, dried fruits, vanilla, and chocolate. The palate is full and rich with sharp apricot notes alongside butter, pepper, honey, and oak. The finish is long with toffee apples developing to pecan and caramel.
