The CAPF flagship program, See, Test & Treat, supports pathologist led free cervical and breast cancer screening for medically underserved women throughout the US. This is all accomplished in a single visit. In a dignified and culturally sensitive manner, women are connected with providers and necessary social services. Often, many have not been to a doctor in years, sometimes decades. The experience is transformative, and even life-saving, for many women. Currently the need for establishing more programs far outweighs available resources.
In addition, the CAPF provides grants to for research into COVID-19 testing and patient outcomes. Pathologists have been crucial in the global response to the coronavirus pandemic, ensuring accurate testing. This has proven invaluable to diagnosis, treatment and contact tracing, both at an individual level and from a population, epidemiological perspective. Testing has been a cornerstone in the strategy to combat the pandemic and will continue to be of great importance in the months to come. It is hoped that these grants will lead to expanding access to quality testing and increasing capacity while improving patient outcomes.
All proceeds from the auction will go towards setting up new cancer screening opportunities throughout the country as well as helping fund vital COVID-19 research. More information on the CAPF can found here https://foundation.cap.org
