The safari lodge is situated in the 60,000 acre Manyoni Private Game Reserve that received international recognition for the introduction of black rhino as an effort to conserve the highly endangered species. The Lodge is spacious, cozy and warm, a true delight in luxurious accommodation. The area offers a truly remarkable and intimate Zulu culture and Wildlife experience. The Reserve is a Big Five Game Reserve and also hosts among others, elephant, rhino, lion, leopard, buffalo, cheetah, hyena, wild dog and plains game animals that are native to the area.
African Spirit Photo Safaris evolved out of a safari company that was established in 1990 and is based on a private big five game reserve in the heart of Manyoni Private Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. This Photographic Safari’s focus is smaller groups receiving personal attention, being guided on dedicated photographic tours to some of our region’s most famous destinations. All photographers are welcome - from the amateur snap-shooters to the seasoned professionals. The Star Graded Lodge is situated 12 km’s west of Mkuze Village in KwaZulu-Natal and is magnificently set in the heart of Zululand. Situated within the Private Big5 Manyoni Private Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, against the backdrop where the Ubombo and the Lebombo Mountains meet. The Lodge features a comfortable and relaxed dining room, cozy lounge, bar, open fireplace and a swimming pool with a thatched gazebo, offering guests a welcome retreat after a day in the African bush. Meals are made in typical South African style which ensures that you will never go hungry and will enjoy every bite that is carefully prepared by our cooks.
Accommodations are intimate and consist of 4 quaint, fully serviced chalets. Each comfortable and stylish chalet accommodates 2 people with an en-suite bathroom, air-conditioner, mini bar fridge, ceiling fan, tea/coffee facilities. The paths are well-lit and connect the chalets to the center of the main lodge area.
The reserve has over 70 mammal species and among them the Big Five: elephant, white and black rhino, lion, buffalo, leopard, as well as African wild dog, spotted hyena, brown hyena, cheetah, African wildcat, serval, lynx, black back jackal, giraffe, zebra, blue wildebeest, nyala, impala, common reedbuck, warthog, waterbuck, bushpig, red & grey duiker, steenbuck, bush buck, mountain reedbuck, ostrich, red hartebeest and diverse birdlife of near 400 species.
