Max Topplin was born and raised in Toronto, a multi-cultural city that has nurtured his talents. He is the son of dual and multiple influences --- his American mother was a hippie given to wanderlust and his father a world adventurer with Canadian roots in Toronto. After graduating from the prestigious Etobicoke School of the Arts, Topplin began his career as a storyteller in a variety of mediums. He is an award-winning actor in theatre, film and television, as well as voice animation. Topplin can be seen as “Harold” on the USA/BRAVO Network’s hit series Suits and in Carrie starring Julianne Moore. He is currently recurring on the History Channel's new original comedy Crossroads of History as well as a new mini series called Insomnia shot on location in Moscow.
Other credits including Dead Before Dawn 3D, The Barrens, Fringe and Degrassi. In addition to spending time in front of the camera, Topplin also tells stories from behind the lens, developing his intuitive eye and his sense of audience. He is an accomplished photographer who revels in contradiction and confluence. His camera reflects sensitivity to diversity and affirms his opposition to social injustices and human polarities. An avid producer and cinematographer, he has produced 9 short films in the past 3 years. Emmy-award winning Brittany Allen’s directorial debut Valentine’s Day, TIFF official selection Layover aswell as CineQuest official selection 10 Speed. His latest short, Antidepressant starred Dean Norris (Breaking Bad) is currently being developed as a feature. Topplin also serves as Director of External Affairs for the LifePaths Telemedicine initiative in Haiti, which offers free medical care and life saving medication to rural residents who would otherwise have no access to healthcare.
