Couples Resorts hosts two Annual Charity Golf Tournaments, one in January in Ocho Rios and the other in October, in Negril. All proceeds raised at these Tournaments, including our Charity Auction, are donated to local charities - the Port Maria Hospital, Three Hills Primary School, the Hamilton Mountain Basic School and the Animal House Jamaica as well as the Clifton Boys Home and the Green Island Primary School.
To date, over JA$25 M (US$220,000) has been raised for these and other charities. Some of the projects we have undertaken have been the donation of an xray machine to the Port Maria Hospital, a donation of desks and chairs for every classroom at the Three Hills Primary School as well as the building of new washrooms, re-paving and fencing of the playground area at this location.
The Clifton Boys Home has received a major facelift, consisting of Kitchen upgrading, new plumbing, repair of flooring and painting as well as the donation of computers, a table tennis table and basketball facilities. A water tank cover has been installed as well as an irrigation system so the boys can water the vegetables they grow. The Green Island Primary School has received major upgrades including painting of their exterior walls, a new school sign, a garbage disposal, class partitions and the installation of a new playground for the children.
