Founded in 1806 as The Orphan Asylum Society by Isabella Graham, Elizabeth Hamilton (widow of Alexander Hamilton), and other progressive New York City women, Graham was established to care for and educate children who lost their parents, regardless of their financial circumstances.
Today, Graham provides life-changing tools and resources for children, young adults, and families who face some of the most difficult obstacles caused by poverty, racial injustice, and lack of access to educational opportunities, living wage employment, quality healthcare, and affordable housing. We collaborate with communities and strong partners to create and implement innovative strategies so everyone can lead healthy, joyful, and successful lives.
Graham supports 8,000+ children, youth and adults in the Bronx, Harlem, and Brooklyn. Our offerings include family support, career and education coaching, mental health and wellness, and community centers.
