About The Emanuel Nine and the Memorial:

On June 17, 2015, five clergy and four church members were mercilessly gunned down during Bible study by a 21-year-old white supremacist at Mother Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina.

In the wake of the devastation, the faith of the Emanuel Nine, their families, and the survivors illuminated the way: it would be by the amazing grace of God.

Just hours after the massacre, the survivors displayed God’s unyielding love by telling the shooter that they forgave him.

Inspired by this remarkable act of forgiveness, Advance Kiawah and The Emanuel Project have partnered to raise money to honor the Emanuel Nine. Your donation to the Emanuel Nine Memorial will help to encourage people to reconcile their hearts and actions with the example set by families of the Emanuel Nine. It will also help honor the lives of the Emanuel Nine by supporting the teaching of new attitudes and behaviors to reverse racism.

Your donation will further help create a memorial that will reflect the powerful and inspiring way in which the Emanuel Nine family members relied on the bedrock of their faith to reverse the spread of hate with a message of unyielding love and forgiveness.

About The Emanuel Project:

The Emanuel Project (TEP) is a charitable organization that seeks to transform instances of hate, including social and racial injustice, into opportunities to foster love, healing, forgiveness, peace, hope, and reconciliation. TEP serves communities who have experienced social or racial injustice, trauma, and acts of hatred, and who have actively taken it upon themselves to move towards healing through a defined project. TEP supports these efforts by providing media awareness and financial assistance, thereby helping the community to become a beacon of strength and hope for the world.
