Jamie Sparer Roberts is Head of Casting for Walt Disney Animation Studios where she has worked on some of the most popular and highest-grossing animated films of all time, including Frozen & Frozen 2, Moana, Zootopia, Big Hero 6, Ralph Breaks the Internet & Wreck-It Ralph as well as Tangled. Last year's Frozen 2 grossed over $1 billion after two weeks in the box office. That same year, Jamie reached #2 on the list of Casting Directors who worked on the Highest Grossing Feature Film of all time.
Ms. Roberts was once named one of Elle magazine’s “Most Powerful Women in Hollywood”. She oversees all aspects of casting for the studio’s animated theatrical releases as well as all of the animated content for streaming platforms such as Disney+ for WDAS. She works very closely with Disney’s stable of directors, writers and producers. Roberts has received multiple honors for her work, including three Artios Awards which are presented annually by the Casting Society of America.
Among Roberts accolades, she received wide-acclaim for casting Idina Menzel as the voice of Elsa in Frozen, which went on to become the highest-grossing animated film in history and won an Academy Award for Best Animated Film. Roberts also cast Zootopia, which grossed just over $1 billion and is the fourth highest grossing film, and Big Hero 6, which won an Oscar for Best Animated Film.
Currently, Jamie is working on several projects including Disney's next animated action-adventure entitled Raya and the Last Dragon starring Kelly Marie Tran and Awkafina. In addition, she is rumored to be involved in casting an animated musical from the creators of Moana and Frozen with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
A Los Angeles native, Roberts is a member of the Casting Society of America and has over two decades experience in casting film and television both animated and live-action. Jamie is not only a member of the Casting Society of America, but also the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
