Enjoy a lunch meeting with Producer, Screenwriter & LMU-MFA Graduate Director of Screenwriting Patty Meyer in Los Angeles. Over lunch, you can discuss getting an MFA in screenwriting, the entertainment business, your writing career, or learn about Ms. Meyer’s career!

Patty is currently at Loyola Marymount University as Graduate Director of LMU's two MFA programs: Writing for the Screen and Writing & Producing for Television after 10 years as a Screenwriting Professor at AFI (American Film Institute). For the past 25 years, Patty Meyer has had a diverse career as a motion picture and television screenwriter and producer. With her passion for dark comedic true crime stories, she has had the privilege of writing numerous screenplays for Martin Scorsese, Harry and Mary Jane Ufland, Brillstein-Grey and Robert De Niro's Tribeca Productions. She has also written projects for every major studio as well as the networks, including a CBS pilot and miniseries.  She continues to write features and series, and her new projects are out on the marketplace.

“I really impress upon students that this is a business to get into if you live and breathe stories, and you have to write, no matter what,” she says. For those with the “fire in the belly” to make screenwriting a career, she offers not only personal insight into her own career — “I want them to feel that I’m among them,” she says — but also career prep through intensive face-to-face pitch practice with industry figures.
