In 2003, Tenacious D appeared on MTV’s Total Request Live to promote its DVD, “The Complete Master Works”.
The ruse began when the duo walked into the conference room of the Millennium hotel in New York City, dressed like superheroes - in silver, skin-tight spandex with white capes.
During this press conference, Jack Black & Kyle Gass insisted they would engage in a hunger strike and stay in a glass box for 45 days with no food and little water. They insisted they would remain there until the DVD sold through the roof, world hunger came to a halt or there was peace in the Middle East.
JB & KG ended up sticking it out for only 23 minutes.
Now, 15 years later, the duo are auctioning off their silver costumes.
Note: Only the unitards and capes are available for auction. The shoes, originally part of the full ensemble, are not available for auction.
