With celebrity fans like Jay-Z and Beyoncé, Lenny Kravitz, and Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Hebru Brantley is the hottest figure on Chicago's fine arts scene. The South Side native first came to prominence in 2012 when Red Bull and Bombay Sapphire both selected him to show his work at the Scope Art Show, a sister event to Art Basel Miami. Since then, his pop-inspired contemporary works have been exhibited in LA, London, New York, and Art Basel Switzerland, and he has done work for Nike, Adidas, and Swiss watch brand Hublot. With spray paint and oil, acrylic, and watercolor, his works project a hopeful world of optimism, hope, and youth empowerment, with accessible yet impactful visuals that make him an ideal subject for a Michigan Avenue summer cover.
