Terence Carter has served as Co-President and Head of Television for Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s Westbrook Studios since November 2019. In this role, he oversees all TV development and production on behalf of the studio and has executive produced eight series, including Peacock’s #1 original series Bel Air, Netflix series African Queens and the follow-up series Queen Cleopatra, the breakout hit Red Table Talk and its spin-off Red Table Talk: The Estefans, travel-adventure series Welcome to Earth on Disney+, docu-series Amend: The Fight for America on Netflix, and comedy This Joka on Roku, as well as the upcoming Pole To Pole for Nat Geo on Disney+.
Carter joined Westbrook after serving as EVP, Twentieth Century Fox Television and FOX Network, where he was responsible for developing and overseeing shows such as Empire, 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Lone Star, Glee, Lucifer, The Resident, Lethal Weapon, Gotham, and Bones, as well as Love Victor on Disney+ and Soundtrack on Netflix.
Carter joined FOX in 2009 from NBC Universal, where he served as VP, Drama Programming and worked on shows such as Friday Night Lights and Parenthood. Prior to that, he served as Director of Comedy Development for the network.
Carter began his entertainment career working in feature films and talent management. He has been profiled in Variety’s New Leaders edition and The Hollywood Reporter’s Next Generation: Top 35 Executives Under 35. He currently serves on the Board of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles as well as the I Have A Dream Foundation Los Angeles.
Carter grew up in Washington, DC, and graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in African-American Studies and a focus in Film and Media.
