Don's work with SNL earned him eleven Primetime Emmys and sixteen nominations with consecutive wins from 2010 to 2015 and 2017-2021. He was also nominated for fourteen DGA Awards and won in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. Mr. King won two other Emmys for his work – one for directing The Mike Douglas Show; and one for heading the design team that revamped the graphic look of CBS News. His other credits include The Early Show, CBS This Morning, Survivor, Eye to Eye with Connie Chung, Bob Simon: Back to Baghdad, The Smithsonian Anniversary Specials, Camera Three, GMA, Kids Are People Too, daytime Winter Olympics coverage in France, Norway and Japan, A&E’s Private Sessions and The View.
Don is also the creative director for Broadway Worldwide, a venture that brings theatrical events to theaters and international television. The company has produced four major productions, all directed by Mr. King: the 2010 Tony-winning musical, Memphis (which earned an Emmy for Technical Direction); Smokey Joe’s Café; the Stephen Sondheim revue, Putting It Together with Carol Burnett; and the musical, Jekyll & Hyde. In addition, he directed the screen version of Broadway’s Romeo and Juliet starring Orlando Bloom.
