David Schwimmer is an accomplished actor, director and producer. He is co-founder of the Lookingglass Theater Company in Chicago, recipient of the Tony Award for best regional theatre, now celebrating its 30th Anniversary Season. His many television and film acting credits include the hit comedy series Friends, for which he received his first Emmy Award Nomination, American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson for which he received a second Emmy nomination, Band of Brothers, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Madagascar I, II & III, Six Days Seven Nights, Apt Pupil, The Pallbearer, Duane Hopwood, The Iceman and most recently The Laundromat.
He has directed over twenty plays, including Sex with Strangers for the Second Stage Theatre, and the world premiere of Plantation! for Lookingglass earlier this year which is now being adapted as a feature film for Topic Studios. Other stage credits outside of Lookingglass include Detroit at Playwrights Horizons, The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial on Broadway and the premiere of Neil LaBute’s Some Girls in the West End, London.
His television and film directing includes ten episodes of Friends, the HBO series Little Britain USA, the feature films Since You've Been Gone, Run Fat Boy Run and the independent drama Trust starring Clive Owen, Catherine Keener and Viola Davis. He recently produced the film LOVE based on the play written and directed by Alexander Zeldin for the BBC, and just completed acting in and Executive Producing the new comedy series Intelligence for Sky TV in London.
For over two decades, David has dedicated his time and energy to raising public consciousness about rape and sexual harassment. Last year, he Executive Produced and starred in #ThatsHarassment, six short films and three PSAs released digitally and on television (as well as running in all New York City and Chicago taxi cabs) and, after forming partnerships with The Ad Council, RAINN and the National Women’s Law Center, helped launch a national campaign to empower victims and bystanders while providing tools to help employers create safe work environments. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Rape Foundation in Santa Monica, California and resides in New York.
