Description of piece:
"The light is the real subject of my work: the flower is the stage, the light is the dancer." —Brian Davis
This vibrant and dramatic photorealistic artwork, Cymbidium I by Brian Davis, is a limited edition hand-signed and numbered full-color serigraph of the cymbidium orchid, so masterfully rendered it is difficult to discern from an actual photograph. Painting from his own photos, Davis' work meticulously illuminates natural flowers and landscapes with radiant light and texture.
Beautifully composed, and evocative of Mapplethorpe and Georgia O'Keefe, the artwork comes custom-framed and ready for display in an elegant black gallery frame measuring 30-1/4" in height x 21-1/2" width.
From a limited edition of only 250 impressions created in 1980, and signed by the artist and released in 1981, the artwork bears the edition number 43/250 lower left, and is hand-signed and dated by the artist lower right, 'Brian Davis 81'. The work also bears an embossed blind stamp, lower right '© 1980 Davis Blue Artwork Inc.' The artwork is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
