Hannah Minghella is President of TriStar Productions. Minghella works to fulfill TriStar’s mandate to make quality, commercial films from the industry’s most acclaimed filmmakers. TriStar is currently in production on director Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting 2, with the original cast returning. TriStar is currently in post-production on Baby Driver, starring Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx, Jon Hamm, Ansel Elgort, Lily James and Eiza Gonzalez for writer/director Edgar Wright, as well as director Ang Lee Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk.
Prior to her appointment to TriStar Productions, Minghella served as President of Production for Columbia Pictures, beginning in October 2010. In that role, Minghella oversaw all aspects of development and production at the legendary motion picture label, including such films as American Hustle, Captain Phillips, Zero Dark Thirty, The Equalizer, 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street, The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2, Men in Black 3, and Skyfall, the most successful James Bond film of all time.
Minghella joined the company in 2005 as a director of creative affairs working in the office of the chairman of the Motion Picture Group under Sony Pictures Entertainment Co-Chair Amy Pascal. In that role, she collaborated on several projects, including the production of the highly successful James Bond film Casino Royale. In 2008, Minghella was named president of production of Sony Pictures Animation, and held that role for two years. During her tenure at SPA, Minghella oversaw the production of the live-action/animated hit The Smurfs and SPA’s CG-animated release Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. She also oversaw the development of Aardman’s Arthur Christmas and The Pirates! Band of Misfits and Sony Pictures Animation’s Hotel Transylvania. Prior to joining Sony, Minghella spent four years at Miramax Films in New York, where she served as a creative executive.
Born in England, Minghella is one of the original co-founders of Stellar Network, a non-profit membership-based organization in the UK that provides resources and support to film, theater, and television professionals. She sits on the board of Women In Film and City Year, Los Angeles.
