Daniels and Andor Films have donated the outfit “Waymond Hero Look” from the film Everything Everywhere All At Once to the ACLU SoCal auction. This outfit was worn by actor Ke Huy Quan in the role of Waymond, which won him an Academy Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role.
Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, collectively known as Daniels, are the Oscar-winning directing/writing duo behind Everything Everywhere All at Once, as well as a decade's worth of attention-grabbing music videos, short films, and independent films (95% of which have at least one butt joke).
They will be honored at the Centennial ACLU SoCal Bill of Rights Awards on February 18, 2024.
Everything Everywhere All at Once and won 7 Oscars including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay. It has garnered many other awards including the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement, WGA award for Best Original Screenplay and was anointed ‘the most awarded film ever.’ Their work has focused on diverse stories from underheard perspectives featuring immigrant, queer, and Asian-American characters while exposing and exploding various taboos for dramatic and comedic effect. They have advocated for workers rights and ethical filmmaking practices in their own industry. And while promoting their movies they have used their platform to highlight activists and their causes through fundraising, partnerships, or that one time Daniel mentioned how hurtful anti-drag bills are during his Oscar speech.
Daniels have been working together in music videos, television, and film for over a decade. DANIELS have developed a reputation for combining absurdity with heartfelt personal stories. Oftentimes they incorporate a unique brand of visual effects and visceral practical effects into their genre-blending projects. They previously wrote and directed the feature film Swiss Army Man starring Paul Dano and Daniel Radcliffe, which went on to win the Directing Award at the Sundance Film Festival, received multiple nominations, and gained a large cult following.
Additionally, they have directed music videos for Manchester Orchestra, Foster the People, and won a VMA for their video for ‘Turn Down For What’, which Scheinert bullied Kwan into being the lead actor in. Kwan is a really good dancer. They both live in Los Angeles. One of them has a son. The other has a goofy dog. But to be honest Daniel does most of the work.
