Ever wanted to get your book published, or just want to learn a little more about the publishing industry? Here’s the chance for you to have a virtual sit down with Executive Editor of The Experiment, Nicholas Cizek, to learn a little more about how to get your book published and what an editor does. You’ll also receive five books published by The Experiment.
The Experiment, distributed by Workman Publishing, began in 2009 with the thought that every book is a test of new ideas. They look for books that present highly proprietary information or a singular perspective, are exceptionally useful, although sometimes in nonstandard ways, and/or address an urgent need on the part of readers—with regard to health, well-being, or simple curiosity. And that are immaculately written and distinctively voiced.
They’ve published more than two hundred and seventy-five books since the fall of 2009, when their first books began to make their way out into the world, and more than half of those books have been reprinted at least once. Most notably, Forks Over Knives: The Plant-Based Way to Health became their first #1 New York Times bestseller! Its sequel, Forks Over Knives—The Cookbook, is also a New York Times bestseller, and has more than 675,000 copies in print. Both tie-ins to the 2011 feature documentary also called Forks Over Knives, these two books are helping to inspire and guide hundreds of thousands of people as they seek out the many benefits of eating a whole-foods, plant-based diet. Forks Over Knives has even been the subject of a question on the television show Jeopardy!
Nicholas acquires across the natural and social sciences, history, biography, memoir, and fitness. His authors include Tristan Gooley, author of the New York Times bestseller How to Read Water; Jessica Wapner, author of the forthcoming book Wall Disease, on the psychological toll of border walls around the world and whose debut book, The Philadelphia Chromosome, was named a Wall Street Journal Top 10 Best Nonfiction Book of the Year; and Adam Rutherford, whose A Brief History of Everyone Who Ever Lived was a nonfiction finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. He began working at The Experiment in 2011 after having long been interested in the publishing industry and the city in which it mostly resides. He enjoys listening to jazz and oldies, traveling, and riding his bike.
