Michael Birnbaum is the founder and President of Empire Pictures Incorporated, an independent production company engaged in the development and production of theatrical motion pictures and television programming. In his more than two decades as a film producer and entertainment industry executive, Mr. Birnbaum has worked with nearly every major film studio, and developed and/or produced projects with such acclaimed industry notables as Michael Douglas, Roland Emmerich, Brett Ratner, Cameron Diaz, Jim Carrey, Cate Blanchett, Robin Williams, Holly Hunter, Billy Bob Thornton, Bruce Willis, The Hughes Brothers and Ron Bass among others. Mr. Birnbaum’s producing credits include the hit teen comedy John Tucker Must Die for Twentieth Century Fox, The Big White for Capitol Films (Robin Williams, Holly Hunter, Woody Harrelson) and Barry Levinson’s Golden Globe nominated Bandits for MGM (Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thornton, Cate Blanchett.) Mr. Birnbaum has held a wide range of positions as an executive on both the business and creative sides of the entertainment industry. He served as President of Landscape Pictures with responsibility for the company’s production and development slate of more than 30 projects as well as for corporate development and strategic planning. Previously, Mr. Birnbaum was Senior Vice President and Head of Production and Development for ITC Entertainment, and as Vice President, Corporate Development for Spelling Entertainment Group where he was responsible for the public company’s corporate development and strategic planning activities. Mr. Birnbaum began his career as the Senior Financial Analyst for the Entertainment and Media M&A Group of Merrill Lynch’s investment banking division in New York.
