Artist bio:
Londhen is an advertising art creative director and a graphic designer by profession. But due to his inclination towards Buddhist philosophy and Tibetan calligraphy, he started creating his art imbibing the essence of Buddhism. His work is mostly minimalistic in nature with a blend of digital and traditional art. He is a Tibetan born in India, studied in Tibetan Children Village and completed his master’s degree from Madras Christian College. During his 17 years of experience in advertising, Londhen has worked in major agencies in India including Ogilvy JWT, FCB and Grey. His advertising works had won ABBY awards in India and inclusions in Lurzer’s Archive. His art mostly emanates the virtues of compassion and wisdom, which are the two most important aspects of Tibetan Buddhism. He mostly uses clean space with simple and solid color in his artwork. Even a Tibetan Buddhist art is expressed in a minimalistic way. He often makes use of negative space as a tool to express his ideas. His work on calligraphy is contemporary and always carries a story within. He stylizes Tibetan scripts into a visual story without losing the essence of the character. Being from commercial art background, he explores all means of artistic approach to bring ideas alive. He is a visual communicator who loves art with a story. But he doesn’t exclude himself from an abstract art appreciator.
