Charles Randolph-Wright will be directing Roundabout’s production of Trouble in Mind this season. His theatre directing credits include Motown The Musical (Broadway, National Tour, and London), the Broadway bound musical Born For This (which he co-wrote with gospel icon Bebe Winans), Sophisticated Ladies (starring Maurice Hines at Arena Stage), the 75th anniversary opera tour of Porgy and Bess, Brian Stokes Mitchell in Love/Life at Lincoln Center, Guys and Dolls (the 50th anniversary national tour), Cabaret Verboten at the Mark Taper Forum (with Bebe Neuwirth and Roger Rees), and The Diva Is Dismissed (starring Jenifer Lewis) at the NYSF Public Theater. Randolph-Wright wrote the play Blue, starring Phylicia Rashad, at the Roundabout. He also wrote The Night is a Child (starring JoBeth Williams), Love in Afghanistan, and co-wrote the Tony nominated Just Between Friends starring Bea Arthur. Randolph-Wright is the producing director and executive producer with Oprah Winfrey for the series Delilah on OWN. Television credits include directing the series Greenleaf, Katy Keene, Step Up: Highwater, Lincoln Heights, and Live At Lincoln Center. He directed the award winning film Preaching To The Choir, and is an Executive Producer of Maurice Hines: Bring Them Back, which won the NYC Doc Festival Grand Jury Prize.
Three-time Olivier Award winning actress and singer Sharon D Clarke will be starring on the Roundabout stage and reprising her Olivier Award winning role this season in Caroline, or Change. Sharon has forged an exceptional career, garnering critical acclaim for dramatic and musical roles on stage and on screen. In 2019, she won the Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her standout performance in Caroline, or Change and The Critic's Circle Theatre Award for Best Actress for Death of a Salesman. In 2020, she won the Olivier for Best Actress for her sensational portrayal of Linda Loman in the Young Vic’s production of Death of a Salesman. The latter also made Sharon the first person to be nominated in all four performing categories of the Olivier Awards. She’s appeared on the West End in Ghost the Musical, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and Death of a Salesman, among many others. Clarke is also well known to television audiences for her role as Lola Griffin in the medical drama Holby City and as Grace O'Brien in Doctor Who. She’s also been seen on television in the CBBC show The Crust, EastEnders, and The Informer; and on film, Rocks, Rocketman, Broken Glass, and Tau.
