Bid to meet How to Get Away with Murder star Karla Souza in Los Angeles!
Karla Souza is an actress perhaps best known for her role as ‘Laurel’ in ABC’s Emmy Award winning series, How to Get Away with Murder, starring opposite Viola Davis, which ran for six seasons. Since then, she has starred as ‘Rosario' in Amazon’s 2020 Spanish-language drama, El Presidente. The series, created and written by Academy Award winner Armando Bo (Birdman), tells the story of the 2015 FIFA scandal.
Souza can currently be seen costarring as ‘Marina' opposite Topher Grace in ABC’s Home Economics, a comedy following three adult siblings and their families. She can also be seen starring opposite Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dog and Dave Franco in the worldwide #1 smash hit, Day Shift, for Netflix.
Other recent projects include the Sony Pictures Classics Spanish musical feature film Voy a Pasarmelo Bien. Most recently, Souza starred in and produced La Caida from award-winning Argentinian director, Lucía Puenzo, whose debut feature film XXY won the Critics Week Grand Prize of the Cannes Film Festival. La Caida is a searing thriller which tells the story about the complexities of relationships when set against a backdrop where winning is defined as the ultimate dream.
Previous film credits include the 2020 Netflix feature film, The Sleepover, Catalina Aguilar Mastretta’s Everybody Loves Somebody (2017) in which Souza served as an executive producer and starred opposite K.C. Clyde and José María Yazpik, as well as three of Mexico’s top grossing films of all time: ¿Qué Culpa Tiene El Niño? (2016), Nosotros Los Nobles (2013) and Instructions Not Included (2013).
Growing up, Souza spent four years in France where she was part of a professional theater company that toured throughout the country. She went on to study at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London and in 2008, received the CCP Award, which is presented to the most promising actress in London. Following her time in the U.K., Souza was selected to study in Moscow, Russia, with acting coach Anatoly Smilianski. She later traveled to present a showcase in New York and subsequently began receiving offers for leading roles in Mexico City. Born in Mexico City, she currently resides in Los Angeles.
