Meet Grammy winner, music, film and TV producer, radio host, and musician, Wayne Jobson, via Zoom!
If you (or a friend/relative) have a written song, he will listen to it to and provide feedback with what to add to it and how to make it into a hit.
Born in Jamaica and raised in the hills of St. Ann, near Bob Marley’s birthplace “Nine Mile”, Wayne Jobson grew close ties to both reggae music and the Marley family. His cousin Diki Jobson founded Island Records with Chris Blackwell and managed Bob Marley and the Wailers. Furthering this connection, another cousin, Diane Jobson, was Marley’s attorney. With those roots firmly planted, young Wayne studied at Kings College in London and received a Master of Laws in Entertainment Law.
Since then, he has become a multi-platinum, Grammy winning producer for artists like “No Doubt” and helped to produce Keith Richards’ “Wingless Angels” CD, released in September 2010. He has re-mixed Bush and Jason Mraz and wrote songs for Sugar Ray and Jimmy Buffet. He has produced television like “Behind the Music” for VH1, music for award-winning films like Adam Sandler’s “50 First Dates”; the Alec Baldwin/Meg Ryan “Prelude To a Kiss”; and Disney’s “Cool Runnings”.
On recordings, at live concerts and on the air Native Wayne brings the best of Rock-Reggae to the world.
A DJ at the world’s #1 modern rock station, KROQ in Los Angeles, he hosted the #1 reggae show in America, “Reggae Revolution” for seven years. Then he became Program Director at XM Satellite and DJ for “The Joint”, where he helped bring reggae to a national audience. When XM launched the largest ($2 billon) radio operation on the planet in 2001, Wayne arranged for Bob Marley's “One Love” to be the first song ever broadcast. He has worked as a consultant to Napster to develop their Reggae and World Music departments, and worked with Jimmy Buffett on his “Radio Margaritaville”, which can be heard on SiriusXM Satellite Radio.
Currently, Native Wayne is an on-air personality and producer with his Alter Native radio show syndicated around the USA and featured on KX FM in Los Angeles. His show not only features the important Reggae songs that you may expect to hear and rare unreleased tracks, but features historic performers who have successfully mixed Rock with Reggae, like: Sublime, The Clash, 311, The Police, Slightly Stoopid, The Specials, No Doubt, The English Beat, Pepper, Madness and 2012 Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame inductees the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Wayne recently worked on reggae legend Toots and the Maytals new album 'Got to be Tough' which is nominated for a Grammy.
