Enjoy lunch & meet Missy Peltz, Chief Creative Officer of Anthropologie. Plus, enjoy a private tour led by Ms. Peltz of the Urban Outfitters/Anthropologie Campus in Philadelphia.
Missy Peltz is ready to be delighted. Unconcerned with boundaries, she can find inspiration in almost anything and anyone. Couple that with the ability to spot patterns in cultural and aesthetic influences and you have the woman behind some of the most celebrated retail visual projects for the last two decades. Her work and guidance of her teams have produced some of the most creative and anticipated windows, signage and displays of any retailer in the industry.
Describing herself as simply a conduit for the beauty in the everyday, she latches on to a divine moment and then sees patterns and connections everywhere. “I see beauty everywhere, in details and sometimes where it is least expected. Finding beauty in the imperfect or the unintentional is such an overwhelming feeling. I want people to connect to that feeling and my challenge is to inspire, engage and educate people to see the beauty in the everyday and to understand that there are no parameters around inspiration.”
Ms. Peltz has worked collaboratively and individually on hundreds of interdisciplinary visual projects for the Anthropologie Retail Stores for over a decade, from her beginnings in Anthropologie’s 3rd store as a visual manager to her current role as Executive Creative Director for 178 stores. Her teams describe her as both incredibly clear in her vision and incredibly collaborative in her approach to executing that vision. She motivates her people to support the visual goal and ensures that everyone participates in pulling ideas and contributing so that everyone feels ownership. Because she wants the big impact, the big impression, she encourages her team to ignore limits and fosters their creativity and, through this, has developed several of the top people at the brand. Her desire to both engage her team and to engage the viewer encourages a relationship and a resonance that continues to set Anthropologie stores apart.
