Carole Bayer Sager’s songbook spans almost 50 years and contains some of the world's most popular and successful songs with over 40 reaching Billboard #1. From the Grammy-winning “That’s What Friends Are For,” the Oscar-winning “Arthur’s Theme,” and the Golden Globe-winning “The Prayer,” to “Don’t Cry Out Loud” and “On My Own,” Carole’s songs have become pop standards. Her honors include an Oscar, a Grammy, two Golden Globes, a Tony, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a Songwriter’s Hall of Fame induction.
One of the most prolific and poignant writers in pop history, Carole’s songs have been recorded by such artists as Barbra Streisand, Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Whitney Houston, Ray Charles, Dolly Parton, Aretha Franklin, Bette Midler, Celine Dion and Reba McEntire, among others. Carole has collaborated with such diverse musical talents over the years as Bob Dylan, Melissa Manchester, David Foster, Bruce Roberts, Neil Diamond, James Ingram, Carly Simon, Kenny ‘Baby Face' Edmonds, Carole King and Clint Eastwood to name a few. Carole had a ten-year collaboration with Peter Allen writing #1 “Don’t Cry Out Loud,” “I’d Rather Leave When I’m In Love,” “Everything Old Is New Again” and “Quiet Please, There’s A Lady On Stage” which were immortalized in Broadway musical The Boy From Oz. Carole, Marvin Hamlisch and Neil Simon co-wrote the Tony winning Broadway smash, They’re Playing Our Song. The many Sager-Hamlisch hits include Oscar-nominated songs "Nobody Does it Better" from The Spy Who Loved Me and "Through the Eyes of Love" from Ice Castles. Carole and ex-husband Burt Bacharach were one of songwriting’s most successful teams, highlighted by the #1 song and Grammy-Winner “That What Friends Are For” and Oscar-winning "Arthur's Theme (Best You Can Do)" Her work was featured in many other films including Golden Globe Winner "The Prayer" in Quest for Camelot; "Anyone At All” in You’ve Got Mail; “My One True Friend” in One True Thing; "A Groovy Kind of Love” in The Wedding Planner; “Don’t Cry Out Loud” in Intolerable Cruelty; “Through the Eyes of Love” in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle; and, “Nobody Does It Better” in the films Lost In Translation, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, Little Black Book and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
