Dan Lin is the Chairman of Film at Netflix, where he oversees film development and production for live-action, animated and documentary features. Lin was responsible for Netflixs acquisition of the feature film Emilia Perez, which went on to earn 13 Oscar nominations (winning two), making it the most nominated film of 2025 and the most Oscar nominated of any Netflix film.
Prior to joining Netflix in 2024, Lin was the founder and CEO of Rideback, the entertainment company known for producing tentpole live-action and animated content for global audiences. Lin formed his company in 2008, and from 2008 to 2024, Lin produced films that grossed more than $6 billion in worldwide box office. Lins expertise is in creating cultural events, such as the recent live-action Lilo & Stitch, The Lego Movie franchise, Stephen Kings It horror films and the mystery thriller Sherlock Holmes film franchise that he produced. Lin also produced the live-action remake Aladdin for Disney, which earned more than $1 billion in worldwide box office, and the awards contender The Two Popes for Netflix, which earned three Oscar and four Golden Globe nominations. In television, Lin has been executive producer of Netflixs live-action remake of Avatar: The Last Airbender, the CW/CBS Studios series Walker, starring Jared Padalecki, and Hulus Interior Chinatown, based on the acclaimed Charles Yu novel of the same name.
As part of a new generation of leaders seeking more inclusion in the entertainment industry, Lin in 2022 launched Rideback RISE, a 501c3 non-profit content accelerator to support POC writers, filmmakers and creative entrepreneurs in creating mainstream entertainment to foster greater racial equity. Lin continues to serve as Chairman of the Board of the organization. Lin additionally founded Rideback Ranch, a creative campus located in LAs Historic Filipinotown district. Home to companies including Rideback, Rideback RISE, Partizan, Animal Logic Entertainment and Janelle Monaes Wondaland, the Ranch serves as a community in service of creativity, connecting world-class writers and creators and providing space, networking, programming and other forms of support. Prior to founding Rideback, Lin served as Senior Vice President of Production for Warner Bros. Pictures. During his eight-year tenure at the studio from 1999 to 2007, he oversaw the development and production of major motion pictures such as Martin Scorseses Oscar-winning drama The Departed.
