The Doomsday Defense was the famous defense of the Dallas Cowboys football team. Defensive tackles Bob Lilly and Jethro Pugh, along with defensive ends George Andries and Larry Cole, were key members of the celebrated Doomsday Defense which made the Dallas Cowboys one of the National Football League's finest teams in the late 1960s - 1970s. All four were lifetime Cowboys, playing for no other professional team: Andrie 1962-1972, Lilly 1961-1974, Pugh 1965-1978, and Cole 1963-1980. All four were part of the 1972 team which won Super Bowl VI, shutting down the Miami Dolphins 24-3, with four recovered fumbles and four interceptions. The Doomsday Defense played a major role in the Cowboys being the first team to ever win three Super Bowls in a four year span.
