Description of piece:
One of a kind! Egon Schiele, artistically active in Vienna during the last days of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, adored women, and was influenced by the fin-de-siècle preoccupation with sex. He was an Austrian Expressionist painter, draftsman, and printmaker noted for the eroticism of his figurative works. He radically changed portraiture from literal representations of well-dressed upper-class people in luxurious surroundings to expressive images, characterized by wildly slashed-on brushstrokes with most of them accentuating the eyes and hands. Schiele explores the human condition at the most elemental level where there is generally no background… just a focus on the figure. This limited edition of 359 of 600 made a cotton parchment paper was made between the years 2014 - 2016 over one hundred years ago. This art piece comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Artist bio:
Egon Leo Adolf Ludwig Schiele German born 12 June 1890 – 31 October 1918 was an Austrian Expressionist painter. His work is noted for its intensity and its raw sexuality, and for the many self-portraits the artist produced, including nude self-portraits. The twisted body shapes and the expressive line that characterize Schiele's paintings and drawings mark the artist as an early exponent of Expressionism. Gustav Klimt, a figurative painter of the early 20th century, was a mentor to Schiele.
