American artist Charles Wildbank was born in Long Island. He creates murals and paintings that explore and point to what always was and what always will be. Pulling from a wide range of subjects such as portraiture, landscape, sea and sky, he confidently and fearlessly depicts the eternal and timelessness with alternately hyper realism and bold abstraction. To achieve his trademark style, he hand mixes his own pigments in small batches. For Wildbank, who was born deaf, the eldest of 9 children, the lines between past, present and future cease to exist and by observation of his musical siblings, he quickly perceived the way music could reach through silent space to harmonize people and atmosphere- and sensed music too has always been and will always be. “I intend my paintings to reach out beyond the wall, into the space and the world, the way music must. Harmonizing, swelling, merging, elevating like a symphony. I just want to sing. I paint songs for all of eternity.” Wildbank received his BFA from Pratt Institute, his MFA from Columbia, and a Fine Arts Fellowship from Yale. His work has been exhibited worldwide. He has received numerous awards including first prize at the Boca Museum.
