The Mark Sandman Music Project is a not-for-profit community-based organization which seeks to foster educational, recreational, and artistic goals by expanding young peoples' opportunities to participate in music. We believe that collaboration in music inspires our spirits, celebrates cultural diversity, and encourages the building of vibrant communities.

The project was founded in the memory of Mark Sandman, a Cambridge resident and internationally acclaimed performer and songwriter, best known for his work in Morphine. The project has recently taken a unique opportunity to expand its reach and functionality by designing and building a music studio in the newly renovated Somerville Armory Arts Center.

The future of music education in the public school systems in Massachusetts is imperiled by budget cuts and competition for children's time from other activities. The Project stands for the belief that a child's participation in music is a positive and socializing activity with life-long benefits.

Who We Are
The Sandman Project is dedicated to improving and enhancing the lives of young people in the Somerville, Massachusetts, area by providing a facility, equipment, mentors, and programs for collaborative participation in music.
