Mark Weiss
Debbie Harry, taken in 1981
This 13 x 19 classic photograph, unframed,
is signed by world renowned rock and pop photographer Mark Weiss who has captured music’s legendary gods and goddesses for over three decades while touring with the likes of Aerosmith, Ozzy, Motley Crue, Kiss and even pop icon Christina Aguilera. His album covers range from Bon Jovi's infamous "Slippery When Wet" in the 80s, which sold more then 28 million copies worldwide, to Gwen Stefani's "Sweet Escape" CD cover in recent years.
The collaboration of photographer Mark Weiss and artist David Banegas began one year ago. Since then they have created 10 original paintings from Mark's iconic photographs. David paints a mirror image of Mark’s photograph through his distinctive interpretation and painting style. Mark's original photo of the artist is placed within each painting. Upon completion the painting is endorsed by the musician through their signature. Axl Rose, Alice Cooper and Lita Ford are among the signed pieces in this unique collection. In June 2012 David and Mark were invited to a special event in Las Vegas at the Varvatos store at Caesars Palace, where David painted “live,” Mark's classic 1981 photograph of Debbie Harry, which is part of the Varvatos collection being sold in the designer’s stores and partnered through Rock Paper Photo, an online fine arts gallery.
