Artist Bio: One9 is an award winning multimedia artist, director and producer. He has worked with Google, PBS, Viacom, Sony Music, and several non-profit organizations. As an artist One9 has been featured in numerous shows including: Pump Me Up: D.C. Subculture of the 1980s with the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Manifest Hope DC, in collaboration with Irvine Contemporary Gallery, His work has been published in the Art for Obama book and The History of American Graffiti as well as profiled in YRB Magazine, Lady Caprice in France and Staf magazine in Spain. As an art instructor he conducted classes on the interpretation of rhythm as part of the Smithsonian Institution’s Seeing Jazz Festival. In addition One9 co-created the 1st Annual Kings & Queens Chess Give with the Hip-Hop Association and International Grandmaster and first African-American Chess champion Maurice Ashley. One9 has been funded by the Ford Foundation and Tribeca Film Institute and is currently directing a feature length documentary with Nas and his father Olu Dara on the socie-economic conditions that created the seminal albulm, Illmatic. One9 lives in Brooklyn, New York.
Art Concept: Using the concept of poster art a custom painting will be made to commemorate the band or artist with a unique one of a kind painting with concert info used as a central theme. With keeping with the artist’s iconic use of ‘Chess’ a designed King or Queen crown will be inserted into the artwork. Each painting will be signed by the performing artist.
