About the Artist: John Gordon Gauld lives and works in New York. Gauld's work primarily represents everyday life, still lifes, the human figure, as well as depictions of the natural world. Influenced by a wide range of styles from Renaissance art and pop culture; Gauld’s work results in images that are satirical or allegorical, and frequently juxtapose natural objects with those that are manmade in imitation of nature. Gauld has been included in many New York group exhibitions and has had solo shows at the Salomon Contemporary, NYC. Previously he has worked with Bergdorf Goodman since 1998 creating large paintings for the store's renowned window displays. He is the recent recipient of artist grants from The Pollock-Krasner Foundation, The Joan Mitchell Foundation, and New York Foundation for the Arts.
