Bid to enjoy a scoop of ice cream with the Kings of Entertainment Scoops in Los Angeles!
Disclosure: Listed in alphabetical order by first name, and not by number of scoops served!
Borys Kit, The Hollywood Reporter
Borys Kit breaks the latest scoops on movies, from acquisitions to castings to the dreaded and they-wish-he-wouldn’t-write-about reshoots (ahem, “additional photography”). He tackles big-picture stories by going inside the dealmaking and goings on studio lots, gets nitty-gritty about out-of-control productions, and takes out the scalpel for post-mortems on movies when they underperform at the box office. His specialty is writing about the geek and comic book worlds, a path set for him when he ran away from home at the age of six when his parents wouldn’t let him watch a Spider-Man movie. (Don’t worry, he came back later when it started getting dark.) And he is the creator of THR’s award-winning blog, Heat Vision. During the week he works hard to out-scoop Justin, Jeff, and Umberto but for this cause, he will gladly eat a mouthful of ice-cold scoops with his honorable frenemies!
Jeff Sneider, Above the Line and Below the Line
Also known as the InSneider, Jeff Sneider is currently the editor-in-chief of Above the Line and Below the Line, as well as the film critic for L.A. Magazine and a contributor to The Ankler… at least until someone tells him he’s been fired from one or all of those positions. As a loudmouth reporter for Variety, TheWrap, and Collider, he has been battling in the trenches with Justin, Borys, and Umberto for years, and is honored to share a scoop with those guys for once. For charity, of course. Join us to see who gets the most licks in.
Justin Kroll, Deadline Hollywood
Justin joined Deadline in July 2020 as a senior film reporter and covers all aspects of the film industry. Before Deadline, he had been with Variety since early 2008, starting as an intern before being upped to editorial assistant in 2009, and joining the film team in 2010. Before Variety, Kroll worked as a freelancer for Reuters in Los Angeles. He’s a graduate of Michigan State University. He is a Detroit Sports fanatic, but more satisfying than seeing his beloved teams win, is out-scooping Borys, Umberto, and Jeff, but is happy to put down the rivalry for a minute (but only one), to pick up a scoop of ice-cream with these guys for a good cause.
Umberto Gonzalez, The Wrap
Umberto has been covering the fanboy beat and breaking scoops for 20 years with numerous Hollywood trade, newspaper, and magazine mentions to his credit. He co-founded Latino Review, one of the early indie fanboy sites in the 2000s, and more recently co-founded Heroic Hollywood. A self-styled Apex scoop predator and a fanciful dresser, Umberto has been profiled in such publications as The Washington Post, Variety, and Grantland. He is currently a film reporter for The Wrap and will take a break from attending premieres for a chance to out-eat some creamy scoops with these boys.
